About Yavne

Yavne, or Jamnia in some English texts, is a city in the Central District of Israel. According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, at the end of 2013 the city had a population of 36,980. Yavne was one of the major ancient cities in the southern coastal plain, situated 10 km (11.43 mi) south of Jaffa, 15 km (9.31 mi) north of Ashdod, and 7 km (4.35 mi) east of the Mediterranean. The city has a theatre and an art gallery.
