The Jewish holiday of Sukkot in 2025 begins at sunset on Monday, October 6, 2025 and ends at nightfall on Monday, October 13, 2025, followed by Shmini Atzeret/Simchat Torah which is one day in Israel (October 14) and two days outside of Israel (October 14–15).
Last year, there were Sukkot programs in The Caribbean, Dubai, Israel, the U.S., and Europe (Greece, Italy, Spain, Prague).
What is the holiday of Sukkot? What do Jews celebrate on Sukkot? How do Jews celebrate Sukkot?
The holiday of Sukkot (Succos) is one of the Three Pilgrimage Festivals and takes place in the fall, usually September or October. Sukkot is also called “Chag HaAsif” or the Harvest Festival, marking the harvest season in Israel. The word Sukkot means “huts,” recalling the temporary shelters that Hashem provided for the Jews in the desert.
For seven days, Jews eat meals in the sukkah. Another central mitzvah of Sukkot is the blessing on the four species (arba minim): lulav (palm branch), etrog (citron), hadassim (myrtle), and aravot (willow). The first two days of Sukkot outside of Israel (the first day in Israel) are Yom Tov, with restrictions similar to Shabbat. The intermediate days, Chol Hamoed, are perfect for trips and activities.
Sukkot concludes with Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah. This is celebrated as one day in Israel and two days in the Diaspora. These days are also Yom Tov and ideal for a kosher family vacation free of cooking and cleaning.
What are Sukkot Programs?
Sukkot Programs 2025 are kosher vacation experiences at hotels worldwide, offering full-board kosher dining, minyanim, sefer Torah, and large, beautifully decorated sukkahs. Programs often include children’s programming, excursions, entertainment, and even provide the four species so you don’t have to travel with them.
Sukkot has become a popular time for family vacations since many observant Jews are off work and schools are closed. Sukkot programs provide everything you need for a worry-free holiday: kosher food, sukkah dining, religious services, and amenities like pools, spas, fitness centers, tours, golf, hiking, and more.
Whether you want to relax at the beach or explore fascinating destinations, Sukkot programs offer the perfect combination of comfort and observance.
