About Hackensack

Hackensack is a city in Bergen County in New Jersey, United States, and serves as its county seat. The area was officially named New Barbadoes Township until 1921, but it was informally known as Hackensack since at least the 18th century. There are many houses of historic value, and some of these were identified in the 1990 Master Plan.

Jewish History, POI & Kosher Establishments in Hackensack

The first Jewish congregation in Hackensack started in the late 19th century, in the early 1970s they built a synagogue which today has been taken over by Chabad. The synagogue holds 200 members and for many years they were full, in the last few years more people have been going to Temples in Teaneck and the congregation reduced to 45. With Chabad on board now this is likely to grow again.
