About Bahamas
Jewish History, POI & Kosher Establishments in Bahamas
The Jewish community in the Bahamas dates back to the 17th century. Jewish families from Poland, Russia and Britain settled in Nassau after WWI. Today there are about 300 Jewish people living in the Bahamas. The Luis De Torres Synagogue in Freeport was built in 1972 but has reverted back to the bank since there are no Jews in that area. The Nassau Jewish Congregation is affiliated with the Union of Jewish Congregations of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Chabad, located in the Baha Mar resort in the Cable Beach neighborhood, has minyan every Shabbat and Shabbat meals. There are a couple of supermarkets that sell kosher products. Asian Latino Grill, the first kosher restaurant in the Bahamas, opened in January 2022 and is located in side the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar.

It can also be a NON KOSHER establishment located in walking distance from the local Shul, community or kosher restaurants area.
