About Cincinnati

Cincinnati is a city in and the county seat of Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. It is the third-largest city in Ohio and the 65th-largest city in the United States. It had a population of 196,945 at the 2010 census, the population of the metropolitan area was 1,114,954 at the same census. In the early 19th century, Cincinnati was an American boomtown in the heart of the country; Cincinnati developed with less European immigration or influence than eastern cities attracted in the same period; however, it received a significant number of German immigrants, who founded many of the city's cultural institutions. Two annual festivals focus on traditional German foods: Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, billed as the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside Munich, and Bockfest, the country's oldest German-style bock beer festival.

Cincinnati's Jewish community was developed by immigrants from England and Germany. They developed Reform Judaism in response to the influences of the Enlightenment and making their new lives in the United States. Isaac M. Wise Temple was the first Reform Judaism temple to be built, breaking away from Conservative and Orthodox Judaism. An estimated 17,000 Jewish persons live in 11,500 Jewish households in the Greater Cincinnati area in 2008. Historically most of the Jewish families lived in Roselawn and Amberly Village, which are closer to the core of Cincinnati, most of the Jewish families have relocated to Blue Ash and Wyoming. There are over 11 Orthodox, Conservative and Chabad syangogues in Cincinnati but there are only 1 or 3 kosher cafes and restaurants.
