About Ocean

Ocean City is a city in Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 11,701. Known as a family-oriented seaside resort, Ocean City has prohibited the sale of alcoholic beverages within its limits since its founding in 1879. Before Ocean City was established, local Native Americans set up camps on the island for fishing in the summer months. During the summer months, frequent episodes of high humidity occur. Occasionally, heat index values exceed 95 °F (35 °C).

Jewish History, POI & Kosher Establishments in Ocean

In the early 1970s the Jewish population in this area was about 10,000, the Jewish population had recently had an influx of Syrian Jews, originally from Aleppo and Damascus this community is strictly observant and many of the community were involved in the banking industry, successful they wanted to get out of the City and move somewhere more conducive to bringing up young families. In recent years more young orthodox families have moved into the area.
