About Brookline

Brookline is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, in the United States, and is a part of Greater Boston. Brookline borders six of Boston's neighborhoods: Brighton, Allston, Fenway–Kenmore, Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain, and West Roxbury. The city of Newton lies to the west of Brookline. At the 2010 census, the population of the town was 58,731. Brookline was first settled in 1638 as a hamlet in Boston, but was incorporated as a separate town in 1705. There are several places that are worth looking at Coolidge Corner is one of the main retail districts and contains some historical buildings and "Fairsted", the 100-year-old business headquarters and design office for renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and the Olmsted Brothers firm, has been carefully preserved as the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site, on 7 acres (1.8 ha) of landscaped grounds at 99 Warren Street are two among several different places of interest.
