About Overland Park

Overland Park is the second most populous city in the State of Kansas. Located in Johnson County, it is a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri, and the second most populous city in the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 173,371. Overland Park lies in the transition zone between North America's humid subtropical climate and humid continental climate zones, typically experiencing hot, humid summers and cold, dry winters. The city traces its roots to 1905, with the arrival of its founder, William B. Strang Jr. The city is home to Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, a 300 acres (110 ha) arboretum and botanical garden. Overland Park also has some museums, art galleries, monuments and other places of interest.
