About Bournemouth

Bournemouth is a seaside resort on the southern coast of England. It's known for its 7 miles of beaches, Victorian architecture and buzzing nightlife in areas such as the Triangle. The resort is also home to Bournemouth Pier, an activity centre with an obstacle course, a climbing wall and a zip line. The 3km-long Bournemouth Gardens offer rock gardens, an aviary and plant species from 3 continents. According to the 2011 census, the town has a population of 183,491. Bournemouth has a temperate climate with moderate variation in annual and daily temperatures. The warmest months are July and August, which have an average temperature range of 12 to 22 °C (54 to 72 °F), while the coolest months are January and February, which have an average temperature range of 1 to 8 °C (34 to 46 °F).

Jewish History, POI & Kosher Establishments in Bournemouth

The Bournemouth Jewish community dates back to about 1905, and is one of the larger communities in the UK, partly due to its appeal as a retirement resort. The town was also very popular as a Jewish holiday resort and, at one time, boasted quite a number of kosher hotels, of which only one remains. There are five synagogues, with all elements of Jewish life being represented. In 2004 there were thought to be 2,100 Jews in Bournemouth. Kosher food can be bought from the Bournemouth Hebrew Congregation shop and other food can be found in local supermarkets.
